December Learning Centres: Celebrating the Holidays

Just a reminder:
Christmas Break: December 24th to January 8th. School starts again on Monday January 9th,2012


During the Month of December we will be focusing on finishing up our train unit and then on to Holiday Activities.

2. Writing Topics
*Draw Santa and Santa's sleigh and reindeer.
*What do you think the North Pole looks like?
*If you worked for Santa, what would your job be?
*What would you GIVE to Santa for Christmas?
3.Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg
*We’ve been studying trains and are going to be reading the polar bear express. Hopefully we will be able to watch the DVD.

4.Math/Graphs
*We estimate how many jingle bells and or candy canes are in the guessing jar
* We will make the traditional red and green paper chains! (focus on patterns)
*We graph: Our favorite Christmas song

*Students complete an "I Can See" booklet to practice reading number and color words.  Students illustrate each page:

As a class, we will add one new item everyday and by the end of the week, we will see SANTA!!
I see one red hat.
I  see two blue eyes.
I see one red nose.
I  see one white beard.
I  see one red suit.
I  see one black belt.
I see two black boots.
I can see Santa!.
